We are looking to get out of CYA, we're unhappy with the coaches and the teams, my child doesn't want to do travel but the level of rec playing is atrocious. The instant a girl gets good, they leave for Valor, and the rec teams are just really, really bad (usually the girls who leave for Valor are the ones with parents who coach, so the coaches are new every year, too. Does this happen everywhere? Are there no good, stable rec teams anywhere? What would be a better option for current U9/3rd grade girls? What have your experiences been?
I would go with GFR. VYS rec is a joke. It’s all in house only and does not participate in any all star tournaments. Everyone I know at GFR is very happy. It’s a better choice.
OP here, I don't see what all star tournaments have to do with anything. My kid doesn't care about that, she just wants to play soccer with other kids who know how to play and aren't just playing because their parents are forcing them to do it.
It’s rec soccer! One lousy league is no different from the next. Stop taking up time in this thread with dumb questions about rec.
So we can all agree it would be fantastic if rec was filled with athletic kids who enjoyed the sport but also aren't ready to commit to one sport year round 5 days a week. The problem is its not, it's now filled with kids whose parents sign them up to try to get some exercise. So the previous mentioned kids whose parents are vilified on here are clubs 3rd team players. To the OP there are alot of people in your position the best bet is a lower tier travel team. At least on the girls side the current state of rec soccer is awful if your kid cares about trying.
I guess I'm just not sure how I feel about paying $3000/year for my child to play on a lower tier travel team. If they had something in between travel and rec, that would be ideal. I was hoping to maybe find a rec program that offers something like that?
Well why don't you get on your magic unicorn and fly off to the wonderful world of fairyland. They have plenty of options that you described there.
What is wrong with you that you feel the need to respond in such a nasty way. Just sharing my thoughts, you giant prick. Soccer mommies are the absolute worst b__ches in the universe. Soccer daddies are even worse, they have the teeny tiniest little penises, it's so obvious.
So, which one are you?
