Here’s another example of liberals spreading misinformation: “Trump wants reparations for white people.” https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/45/1239987.page He has NEVER said that and of course, no one on the thread can quote him. It’s absolute BS, yet still the thread hasn’t been deleted.
DP who is left-leaning. You are correct. He didn’t use the word “reparations” but he did use the word “restitution.” Some commentators on the left took the quote below and interpreted it to mean reparations for white people. Take a look yourself and see what you think. it kind of sounds like a form of reparations to me, but maybe that’s just semantics. Also, if at any time you think something is false information, you should report it. In his July video, Trump said: Furthermore, I will direct the Department of Justice to pursue federal civil rights cases against schools that continue to engage in racial discrimination. And schools that persist in explicit, unlawful discrimination under the guise of equity will not only have their endowments taxed, but through budget reconciliation, I will advance a measure to have them fined up to the entire amount of their endowment. A portion of the seized funds will then be used as restitution for victims of these illegal and unjust policies, policies that hurt our country so badly. https://www.msnbc.com/the-reidout/reidout-blog/trump-department-education-dei-rcna180046
Reparations vs restitution doesn't really change much in terms of meaning. Trump said what he said and trying to claim he didn't because of exact terminology doesn't cut it.
