However, he likes to be read to and likes to play games, including counting games. In preK, we went over letter sounds while reading books, and played games where we clapped syllables. Then we moved on to CWC words, and added magic/silent E. That was all he needed to be taught to learn to read, ymmv. Yes, a parent should and can teach even resistant children to read. Even starting at 5 or 6, it is very doable.[/quote]
