If you have a trade in, that is what you can negotiate.

I recently bought a 2yr old used car with cash in the same price range and I got them to come down $1k on the vehicle and up $500 on my trade-in. My friend loves to negotiate cars and buys/ sells collectible cars. He coached me for my purchase and based on inventory, he thought $2500 was the maximum I’d be able to get, so I thought it went well.
