I left public after 20 some odd years though because I simply couldn't manage the behaviors and the massive workload any longer.  A teacher pension in my area is amazing.  But no amount of money was worth what I went through in public.  My first year in private, I had one kid who repeatedly threatened to harm me and my colleagues and other students and my admin completely gaslight me and my colleagues about it.  They tried to make it about us and not the kid.  I'm only hanging on because I have college tuition for my own kids.  Since that first year in private, it's been better.  But honestly, I'm fried.  This is a field anyone in their right mind should avoid.  If I had a young child of school age, I have no idea where I'd feel safe sending them.  Public?  No.  Private?  No.  Parochial?  No.  Homeschool?  Eh.[/quote]
