So these course-specific tests aren't coming from MCPS. They're coming from the state and they're tied to Maryland's Blueprint plan.

Are you sure?  This seems like something separate from the MCAP state assessments.  If you look at the  [url=https://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/siteassets/district/departments/sharedaccountability/testing/hs_assessmenttimeline.pdf]calendar of assessments[/url], these are identified as internal assessments, while the MCAP is shown as external.  It seems to be something different. I think these are what used to be called "progress checks" but now they are being weighed differently in marking period grades.[/quote]

Yes, this is what my kid's math teacher has in their syllabus: after All Tasks/Assessments (80%) and Practice/Prepararion (10%), there is a third category, District Assessments (10%). "Known as progress checks, these will be given out every quarter and will be for a grade. It will not be of the entire quarter, but a certain unit."[/quote]
