The grandparent getting something out of it is just a bonus for them. [/quote] No, it's to let family members get a peek at the school. Kids can be talked into enjoying these celebrations but they don't agitate for them. Our school has 1st grade "Muffins for Mom" in May and "Donuts for Dad" in June. It's relationship-building for the school and the teachers think it's cute. I agree it adds to the community feel but it's dispensable. No other grade pays attention to these holidays. And we don't have grandparent day - they can come to.the parent ones if they want.[/quote]
