This mom-and-pop husband-and-wife shop in Shaw ran away with the competition in every way conceivable. It got the highest overall score, got the highest score for plain bagels (41 out of 60) and everything bagels (45), and secured the only perfect score (10) from any judge. Fans trumpeted its texture (“nice squish; even baking”), appearance (“nice browning”) and chew (“a bit of crackle”), and the criticism was muted (“not anything special”).

Yay: “Perfect seasoning blend. Excellent.”
Nay: “Outside lacks blistering. That’s so indicative of a truly good bagel.”
