Son is a HS freshman. He plays club and JV lacrosse and soccer and is on club fencing. He wants to major in math and loves skiing and the outdoors. Hit me with your recommendations for a school that has a stellar math program and has varsity fencing. He will likely fence but wants to be somewhere near the mountains or ski resorts and outdoor area for rock climbing, kayaking, hiking, paddle boarding. Very outdoorsy kid. Academic, high tester. Hasn't take the PSAT or SAT yet. Seems early but I am having a hard time finding this type of unicorn. Son goes to a huge public school where he is just a number and overlooked since he has strong test scores and academics so the counselor isn't much help.
Yeah, this is a unicorn. You're going to have to make some choices. I was thinking Dartmouth and Williams. Great Math departments. But neither have men's fencing. That would be Princeton, Notre Dame, and Columbia. Not a lot of great skiing in Indiana or NY city. Consider the publics out west. UC Boulder, Montana, Idaho.
