Generally, the medical opinion seems to go into the direction that the risk of CVS is very similar to amnio, and that the previously reported higher miscarriage rates are just due to the fact that CVS is done in the first trimester, where many miscarriages happen anyway. That is what the two perinatologists that I have talked to told me. The problem with these statistics overall is that they count every loss that occurs within four weeks of the procedure as being caused by it - when in most cases, they do not know whether the loss would have occurred anyways. If I were in your position, I would not hesitate getting an amnio, but everyone has to make that call for themselves.[/quote]
