Incompetent is how to sum it up for me. Many Admin in schools are wonderful, but I’ve worked with some awful ones too. They ruin staff morale and climate, and they delegate every problem presented to them to someone else. When do school staff get to evaluate administrators? Some of them are in need of feedback, both positive and negative.
So true. I actually said to my admin last year that the professionalism of education is incredibly subpar compared to the outside professional world (which I worked in for 15 years prior). I think that’s why I struggle so much with this job. When someone says something or does something absolutely unacceptable (for example, scream at me when I ask for help), then somehow I’m then the one who is unprofessional” when I call them out on their behavior. It’s unbelievable how incompetent so many are. I know that sounds mean but it’s incredibly true. I’m sick of being treated like a child.
