Changing shoes is very tacky. It's far better to pick a heel height you can comfortably wear all evening. No one wants nor needs to see your icky shoe bag at a dining table. I've been to countless weddings in Europe and the US and have to say I've never seen anyone do a shoe/outfit change except for the bride and groom.
Sounds like a *you* issue. No one is paying attention to a bag (that happens to have shoes in it) that's under a table. I change shoes because the ones I wear to walk from the car into the venue are not the ones I dance in. My dancing shoes have nice suede bottoms and I'm not ruining them by walking on asphalt and concrete.
