[/quote] Because it’s a TRUE off-road capable vehicle, and those tend to have smaller wheels and tires with taller sidewalls. That way you can lower the tire air pressure to about 12psi when driving off-road and allow the tire to flex around and over the terrain, getting better traction. Also, the sidewall with flex and “mush” slightly, improving the quality of the ride over rocks and ruts and bumps. Modern luxury SUVs have stupid lower sidewall tires with giant 20”+ wheels, which are absolutely useless off-road because they cannot handle the lower air pressures described above. 100% guarantee that 25 year old Lexus in that photo is far more capable than a Range Rover coming straight from the showroom floor today.
