Our neighbor questioned DS the other day on why he's taking 5 APs this year; says her kids only took 2 or 3 per year and ended up at top schools. Ok, well, your kids' HS allows APs freshman and sophomore years; my kid's does not. We walked off and he said he really felt there was no choice for him. Four or five is the default at his school for students who are STEM-oriented. They are already on the higher science track (3-year program beginning soph year) and are in calc bc as juniors as well. But no one thinks it wise to skip either AP Lang or APUSH. [/quote]
