Better to split the estate equally with the other beneficiaries because amounts received as bequests are not taxable income for federal purposes. With a relatively smaller estate, I’d rather keep more of the funds in the family if possible. People should discuss tax implications with their own CPA so they don’t accidentally do something that could end up costing more in taxes. [/quote]
