Why not say this when asked directly about it by reporters over the years? nstead he said he never said it. I kinda care that he keeps lying. It's weird and shows his true character of lying to get ahead. If he was some great legislator, not caring starts to be reasonable. Im not calling for a resignation but if Im a party leader im looking elsewhere when time for a new senator/pres etc His apology was also stupidly indignant, just the sort of attitude that will make the nyt want to dig deeper.
