Driving on the shoulder is a One Point Violation in Maryland. It is only 3 points in Maryland if an emergency vehicle is blocked by you driving on shoulder. VA hit me with 3 points automatic for being on shoulder even though I was blocking no one and actually trying to get on highway. They ticketed me points wise very high.

Three points is crazy. In VA you have concept of safe points up to five for each year you drive safe. If I was a Virginia driver I would get hit with zero points for this violation as I would of had five positive points saved up. If in Maryland with no positive point system I would have got one point.

Because I had a Maryland Plate in VA I got hit with triple points, if I was in Maryland same ticket it be one point and if I was a VA resident I would have got zero points as I would of had five safe points.

My friend got a similar BS ticket in Delaware. Not coming to a complete stop on red when making a right on red on an empty street. For out of state residents that plead guilty it is no points as long as you don't get another ticket within 12  months. She paid and drove safe the rest of her time in Delaware. Why if she got a second ticket they bring back first ticket and you get six points!!!
