She'll be 40 this fall and she most certainly would have more in common with the coupled-up folks than she would with younger hipsters at a bar. Anyway, my cousin has spent the last 10 or so years with someone all wrong for her and previously when she's considered breaking things off, she's gotten drawn back in - she really loved this woman deeply and I'm afraid it was clear that the partner was nowhere near as emotionally involved at any point, but had her own reasons for drawing my cousin back in. But anyway.

I do think she is finally ready to fully move on with her life now. I'd like to help and fully support her because she is one of the kindest individuals I know. PP is definitely right that she will want to hang with us (she's a really great aunt to my kids) and do some touristy things but I get a strong sense that she'd like to get out there a little bit and meet people. If nothing else, it might lead to some friends who have nothing to do with her former partner. (And if those friends happened to have a friend who happened to be single and kind and perfect for my cousin, all the better, but that's not necessarily the objective). I really do think the film festival sounds perfect, because that would probably attract people from all stages.
