The ED of Alexandria makes 340K a year Bethesda makes 198k McLean 171K
The ED of Alexandria makes 340K a year? Now that is criminal. -Alexandria taxpayer
Came here to echo this!
Why would an Alexandria taxpayer care more than an Alexandria Soccer Association parent? Don't the directors' salaries come from revenues? I don't see how that would affect a taxpayer.
part of me thinks that, but part of me realizes how heavily subsidized they are by the city. Think about all of the outdoor futsal courts the city installed. Try to get a permit for one of them at the same time ASA wants it. The same applies to Whittier Park or Limerick or Simpson
you might have a gripe with the partnership but the salary doesn't affect any of those things. and since net profits aren't taxed it's not taking away from that either. ASA is the driing force behind upgrades in those places and they provide organized activities for thousands of kids, the vast majority of whom are county residents. I totally understand the frustration of trying to find an open field for play with my son, but if a field or a court is full of kids it's probably a better use than the two of us taking it up. I hope, but don't know, that the fields ASA advocates for and helps maintain do get to be used by the public sometimes. There's definitely plenty of space over the summer. Same with Arlington fields.
they don't just box out individuals, they box out other organizations as well
