So we’ve been going to our pool in moco for 5 years. If the guards hear thunder they blow the whistle and wait 30 mins til we can get back in. Today the pool manager said we had to be off the pool deck completely. In the building or in our cars. Apparently part of the insurance states this is what’s supposed to happen and we just haven’t been doing it. What does your pool do? This was for distant thunder, no lightning, no actual storm.
First, thunder does not occur without lightning. Not ever. Second, light travels much more quickly than sound, almost one million times more quickly. It is possible to see distant lightning and not hear thunder. It is much less likely to hear thunder and not have nearby lightning. Distant thunder without nearby lightning is like seeing and smelling forest fire smoke and not being concerned about a nearby fire. Not that likely.
