So, a suggestion.  If there really are a lot of spaces and you are parking a minivan far out, park on the line so that you are over two spaces.  Maybe the ditz who parks next to you, will still park between the lines and leave you half a space of room to get your child into the car seat.  And since you are parking out in Timbuktu with empty spaces between, then you won't be taking up a space that someone else needs.  Also, if there are those concrete "islands" with trees and whatnot, then park next to one of those but on the line so that you leave half a space between the curb and your car.  since there are no other cars around, you can park facing either way to put the door that you need to get to the car seat on the curb side.[/quote]
