First of all, "Mittens" is clearly a joke.

Second, the 47% figure [b]is not even close to being right[/b].  True, 46.4% of Americans pay no federal[i] income[/i] tax, but nearly 2/3 of the group that doesn't pay federal income tax pays federal[i] payroll[/i] taxes.  If Romney meant to reference those approximately 18% of Americans who pay no federal taxes at all, the majority are the elderly.  Is Romney really writing off older voters?

furthermore, payroll taxes are 15.3%- which means 2/3 of that group are still paying a larger percentage in taxes than Mitt Romney does at 13.9%. what a tool.[/quote]
