Why?  Honest question.  If fathers can not "be better" than phoning it in, than why should women do more?  I think matching energy is a great way to balance things.  If he wants a big deal on Father's day, the best way to get it is to make a big deal on mother's day.  If no one cares, great (that's my marriage).  But there's no real reason it should be lopsided either.[/quote]

Eh, I don't agree. I do think taking stock of the BALANCE in your marriage is ok.  If one person has all the beans and then is also saying "bean counting kills marriage!" that isn't a good marriage because one of the people in that marriage sucks.[/quote]

What is the goal?  Is it to have balance?  Or is it to be happily married forever?  Not saying one is better than another but you can't count slights if you want a marriage to work.  It has to roll off your back or say something at the time -- never later.  Why did he phone it in?  Parent dying?  Work?  You will have those things too.  So no you don't compare.  Father's day is way easier anyway -- most people don't care.  Buy steaks and you are done.[/quote]
