What about drug use, etc.? Is it better/worse than other high schools in the area? How much does the school do to make sure gets don't get lost in the huge student population?
The school is much whiter than the schools where there are drug problems
How white is Yorktown? As in: white culture? (maga?)
In terms of that culture, probably more than most public high schools in the region, but nothing terribly alarming. ARLnow, the popular hyperlocal news site published a story a few years ago (pre covid era) about students at the school who requested teachers take down certain politically progressive banners and posters. I don’t recall if they prevailed in the effort.
Wait - public school teachers at Yorktown have displayed openly-partisan banners and posters in classrooms?
She didn't say openly partisan, she said political progressive those are two different things. I.E. Vote Joe Biden or support democrats would be partisan. Black Lives Matter or Support Trans Kids would be politically progressive. They are different and generally subject to different rules.
