Where exactly are the low-income areas? If they are in the City of Fairfax, they will stay at FHS.
I think a lot of the low-income students at Fairfax High School come from apartment complexes within the City of Fairfax. Fairfax City has a ton of apartments, and most are pretty rough. It's a shame because the single-family and townhouse neighborhoods in Fairfax City are nice, but the whole City, and the schools too, are brought down by the apartments. Unfortunately the Fairfax City Council is apparently looking to add thousands of MORE apartment units to the City, since that's what developers want to build right now, so that definitely isn't going to make the City a better place for families. But overall, this redistricting should solve a lot of problems for FHS and Lanier.
