Microbiologist here - immediate (within an hour) symptoms point to bacterial toxins or allergens present in the food. Usually food poisoning comes with a drop in blood pressure (feeling woozy or fainting), stomach cramps, sweating and diarrhea as well. Did you have that? If you experienced tingling of the lips, mouth or throat, then threw up, it could also be an anaphylactic reaction. Allergies to nuts and seafood are common and can appear at any age. I'm leaving out the possibility of an alcohol overdose, since you say you can handle your booze. If you're worried, you could get a skin test panel at an allergist's.
I have IBS and get diarrhea within 20 minutes of eating certain foods.
PP you replied to. Yes, my daughter has that. But here the main symptom is vomiting and to the best of my knowledge, the IBS cluster of symptoms rarely includes it.
