He had just been in Saudi Arabia as the guest of a wealthy Saudi. He called the place that I worked and I happened to answer the phone. For some reason, he thought I was connected to the Saudi fellow. I had actually never heard of the guy. Hatch immediately started complaining that the Saudi had "stiffed him". I was convinced someone was playing a hoax on me and said I would have to call him back. The number went to his office (I confirmed it in the Senate phone directory). When I called back, he insisted that I needed to help him and was disappointed that there was nothing I could do. So, I don't think particularly highly of Hatch, chairman or otherwise.
