I think her book is spot on. I am not a Republican, I am independent. I grew up upper middle class but have recent enough working class roots to understand why people have embraced Trump and populism. These people do not want to be the beneficiaries of government redistribution largesse. They want dignity of work and the ability to build a stable and comfortable life.
