They can be held easily while standing and chatting and that little round place for the cup works for a stemless wine glass or a small plastic cup if you're using those.[/quote] I remember those! My mom used them for her church Ladies Circle, she also was part of a sewing circle (early 1960s)--hers were rectangular glass plates with decorative glass rim and coffee cups that sat in one of the compartments. They still show up in thrift stores now and again. Back in the days when ladies also had dressy aprons to wear once the party started and they were hostessing. [/quote]
