When we returned just before he turned 13, he was able to wait in lines just fine and we didn't use a pass.  My family made a point of not using the system when we didn't need it just because we had a family member with a diagnosis.

I'm sorry to hear that people were taking advantage of the accommodation who didn't need it.

I must say that my first two trip to Disney with were great (we just used FastPass+ not the DAS the first time because it met our needs).

Now it's gotten so crowded and the system one needs to navigate to pleasantly visit Disney are so annoying to work around that our chances of going to Disney again have diminished significantly.
