OP, I have nearly the same stats and think about this question all the time. Currently trying to lose the last 10-15 lbs. What works for me is to simply lean into the hunger and accept it. Also, I do intermittent fasting, which allows me to eat 2 larger meals rather than 3 tiny ones. I find I’m just as hungry at lunchtime if I eat breakfast or not. I also eat very low carb, which helps. Here’s what I’ll be eating today: -around 1pm: plain greek yogurt; chicken breast with grilled veggies -around 4pm: 4oz steak with cheese, salsa, and sour cream -around 7pm: 4oz pulled pork; 1.5 cups chicken taco soup
Op - yea I think I might just have to sit in the discomfort. It stinks. Sometimes I feel light headed when I go too long in between meals.
Me too. It sort of goes away after a while, but I just don’t lose appreciable weight unless I spend a good portion of the day moderately hungry. So the hunger pains reinforce that I’m on track. This mental reframing is the only way I don’t collapse into self pity and defeat! It sucks and does feel disordered at times.
It is disordered.
agree
PP. Maybe. But I think humans are meant to be hungry sometimes, right? Is it only disordered if you’re doing it to lose “vanity” weight?
Sometimes isn’t everyday, especially if you have the resources not to be hungry. That’s called starving yourself.
PP. So do you think the only healthy approach is to eat preemptively so you’re never hungry? I think that’s now considered the norm but was not the norm 100 years ago.
Where did you get that? I’m saying you should eat until you’re full (not stuffed).
But what if that results in obesity?
