[img]o

Arlington, McLean, Vienna, and PAC are all decent options and close-ish. If you are already in town, you might try and see if you can practice with a team(s) before tryouts to get a sense of the team. Arlington is the largest and has about 5-6 teams at that age group, McLean will probably have 3, Vienna 2 or 3, and PAC 1 or 2, Only issue with PAC is that as the kids get older, the teams tend to start to fall apart as kids have different interests (high school years).
Thank you all for this info. Of Arlington, Mclean, and Vienna, which would be most likely for a lower level travel player to make? On the website Arlington and Mclean have the same day and time for 2010 girls tryout.
Arlington is hard to break into at that age unless you are a standout player on a higher team. They recruit externally to fill the top, then push current players down to the lower levels. A caveat- is that if you can get your player at practices with the team before tryouts and talk the with coach- she has a better chance.
We are a McLean family so I’m biased, but driving to South Arlington fields from Tyson’s for practices in the evenings is a real grind and something to consider. But just wanted to note that U15 is when a lot of girls quit (as they head to high school and decide to focus on high school and/or other sports), so there likely will be openings on the lower teams, presumably even at Arlington.
08/09 were told the bottom level team is going away in the fall. They’ll have four levels of teams at that age, not five.
