I have no respect for those who are not high earners and think they are all lazy.  I don't realize that many of those lowly people have an education equal or superior to mine.  They simply chose a career field they cared deeply about even though they knew it would never make them rich (nurses, employees for non-profit, etc.).  I also don't realize that others are smarter and work harder than me, but higher education was impossible for them, so they have worked harder than I ever will just to make ends meet.

I am in the medical sales field.  I would rather have millions of people go uninsured than for me to endure a small excise tax and fill out a form every now and then.  I clearly have not thought this through, and don't realize that my potential customer base will grow more than I could have ever imagined when I entered this field.  I am so focused on "how does this affect me right now" that I do not see the many ways this will benefit my family.  maybe I will get it someday if, God forbid, someone in my family is diagnosed and ins. companies are not allowed to deny us coverage.  Or when my children grow up and won't have to worry about how to obtain coverage as they are trying to find their way in this world.  Or when my aging parent are not denied the care that they need.  Or when I realize that my ins. premiums will no longer cover the ER visits of uninsured people who could afford coverage.

I don't understand tax brackets and marginal tax rates so I think that small businesses will endure a hefty tax on every dime they receive from their customers and it will destroy their business.  I need to study this and figure out that the tax increase will only apply to the portion of the business owners take home income that exceeds $250K.  take home pay is whatever the owner is left with after payroll and the $ that is put back into the business.

I am selfish and have no business living in a governed country.  I don't even understand government or what it means to live in a democracy.  I should take my billions of dollars and buy an island where everything can be about me.[/quote]
