As an elementary teacher, I'm more curious about the teachers! Do they get to just stop teaching at that point?
I am a middle school teacher and I always questioned this. Although, there are not a lot of teachers who just teach seniors. Like the OP, many teachers have all grade levels in their class, so they would still be teaching those left. Some classes like English 12 would be an exception. But even then, not many teachers only have 1 prep, they may have a free period here or there. And being a teacher of just seniors does come with extra work that I don't have to do, like college recommendations earlier in the year.
I'd expect college rec letters to come from the junior teachers who knew them all year.
