Basis is known for significant attrition from (about a third to one quarter) from fifth grade to senior year. This is result of weeding out under-performing students in order to achieve high test scores. Basis is also known for its extended homework hours and emphasis on standardized tests. No thank you.
You pulled those stats out of thin air. Yes, Basis is a grinder school just like every other private school with excellent college acceptance results (I like how everyone is trying to change the topic when they don’t have anything to say re: BASIS’s college acceptance results). But little to no turnover at the higher grades as students and parents know what they’re looking for going into high school.
I think BASIS is for a particularly academic focused kid who doesn’t care about sports, clubs or what someone may think of as the “school experience”. The focus is academics above all else, almost like a kid that’s home schooled or has a private tutor. I don’t see anything wrong with it if your kid/family fits this mold. Lots of people on this forum seem obsessed with college placement, so if that’s really what’s driving you, more of you should probably come off your high horses and try BASIS.
