Yup, until that story I probably wouldn’t have blinked at a parent saying phones will be put away/taken at midnight or whatever. But now it would be a hard pass from me if a parent tried to mandate taking my kid’s phone at a sleepover.[/quote]

Yeah, but I’m not taking the chance in the event my kid needs me when they are staying somewhere other than my home. Besides, kids who have phones can be idiotic on them at any time not just sleepovers. [/quote]

When you send your kid to someone’s house for a sleepover, it is with the understanding that the parent responsible for them is able to meet all of your child’s needs and that is who they need ask, not you.  What did you do at sleepovers when you were a teen and needed something? Kids don’t need to have mom constantly available in an instant every second of their life.  If you don’t fully trust the other parent to meet your child’s needs, whatever those may be, then don’t do sleepovers there.[/quote]
