I asked for the raw score breakdown, but was told that the school doesn’t get that information.
FCPS gets this information. It's always provided by any test administrator. Whether they want to distribute it is another thing altogether. Some schools are distributing it, others will say "we don't have it." It's up to you as a parent to advocate for getting it because if your kid is taking a test, they should be able to give you the full results of the test. Email the Principal.
Isn't that literally illegal under VA law for a school not to give information they have on your child? I don't need to see my kid's IAAT raw breakdown, but I would be freaking out if I asked for something the school had and they refused me, unless I'd signed away my right to it.
I'm not sure about the legality of it all, but I do think it's in the schools (and District's) best interest to provide this to parents, if the parent asks. It's usually a parent who wants to see whether the kid needs additional help in certain areas. In my opinion, and I'm a parent who received this report, it's an important data point. My kid didn't get >91. It's fine. He'll be fine, nonetheless, but when he knows he didn't make it, he wondered where he fell short. A percentile report doesn't give him that vantage point.
