Easy pickin's. Beach communities have full time money and part time residents.
That's what I'm thinking too. https://www.neighborhoodscout.com/de/rehoboth-beach/crime https://trippursuit.com/bethany-beach-vs-rehoboth-beach/ https://www.areavibes.com/bethany+beach-de/crime/ https://crimegrade.org/violent-crime-bethany-beach-de/ https://crimedata.io/delaware/bethany_beach
Listen, the zip codes at the beach cover very wide areas of divergent housing stock and SES. If you zoom in on the very pricy property within a few blocks of the beach, you will see the only crime is occasional public drunkenness or maybe a bar fight. But cross over Route 1, or hang out near some of the Wawas, mobile home parks, etc, and it is a different story. Lots of what is now sold as “Bethany,” “Lewes,” and “Rehoboth Beach” are former corn fields. If you are in the legal limits of the actual towns, the crime is much, much lower than here and the police presence is much more obvious.
