The instructor for my kids math competition class with RSM is in Albania. We could care less because he covers the material well and our kid loves the class. I don't know how the AoPS classes work but the RSM Virtual Class only allows 12 kids into the class. I would guess that a text based chat class would allow for a larger number of kids, making it less expensive then a on camera class where you limit the number of participants so everyone can participate and you decrease potential lag time.
At least RSM is honest about instructor's location, and shows the instructor's face and let's them speak like one would expect from a typical online class. What is unscrupulous about this AoPs offering is first they charge more than a typical online class so it is not less expensive, and more importantly it is termed Live Online class misleading enrolees into thinking it would have a live instructor who appears and teaches the class with audio/video, when it is just a group text chat admin, assisted by more chat assistants who do DM texts. No one know if this chat admin is the same instructor that they display with "photo" during registration and payment.
You are dripping with stupidity. As I mentioned earlier, you should have done more research before you spout stuff randomly. First of all, AoPS text based classes are more rigorous and contain more content than a normal audio/video class. That is because text information can be presented and absorbed at a significantly faster pace than audio/video. Again, if you couldn't bother to actually read these things on their site and think about why that is, that is on you. Also, as a bunch of other people on this thread have repeatedly told you, text is not the only channel of communication; there is a virtual zoom audio/video option (more expensive) and if you happen to be very lucky, there are about a dozen in person academies in the US, (again more expensive for obvious reasons). AoPS hires people with deep interest and expertise in math, CS, and physics, who also love to teach math to curious and motivated kids. Your comment about not knowing who is teaching the class is (yet again) stupid and irrelevant. It's simply the teacher who is assigned to teach the whole class, which is clearly stated for each class. Given that they teach live, introduce themselves, answer questions live, and students interact via text, your comment about the "chat admin" makes no sense. If you actually want to educate yourself, you should sit down along with your child and actually take the class together with them for the first two weeks. If you don't like the format, or your child cannot handle the text format because it goes too fast, you can jus cancel prior to the start of the 3rd class and get a full refund. If you have actual relevant questions, you should bring them up here. But don't just whine without even bothering to understand the curriculum.
We get it you have your head up AoPs hind.
