In addition to having my own kids, I taught 5th & 6th grade for years. The 5th graders were great. Then then same kids would come back next year and have turned into annoying, moody creatures. They were obnoxious, but still lovable in other ways. I used 1-2-3 Magic with them as well as my own kids. Of course it shouldn’t take two chances. But that’s where you are. They’re testing boundaries and it’s exhausting. 1-2-3 Magic is about giving them the chance to fix their impulsive behavior and it give you the permission to respond with the least amount of engagement.
