The second and third posters nailed it. I’m 42 and occasionally I’ll have dreams of when I was a teen or my 20s, and I get this warm sensation of aliveness and I wake up feeling free. Free to do whatever I want and feel whatever I want. And the possibilities are endless and I don’t have anything to worry about. I want to stay in that feeling forever but then my baby cries and I have to wake up and make breakfast for the kids. I love my babies so this life is still great but that feeling… I miss it and hope my kids will one day experience it too.
Same. Late teens, early 20s were the most free. I had one summer at 22 that was one of my favorites ever. Had an apartment to myself because the others went home for the summer. I got a part time job at a pub that was fun. I met so many people from all different places. I had one platonic summer friend who also worked there and we laughed and had so much fun and he was the only one that would ride bikes at midnight to the beach with me. Hook ups with coworkers or college guys I knew. So much freedom, such a great feeling.
