Probably 3/4 in each age group

Metro and Paramount in open
VA Juniors, VAE and the occasional MD Juniors in one of the lower divisions

Paramount and Metro 15s do NOT have a bid to nationals open division. They haven’t placed high enough in open division in the qualifiers so far. Metro won regionals so right now their bid is national NOT open.

Good lord there is someone that keeps erroneously commenting about paramount and metro. At Sunshine they both were in the lowest division of open in the finals.

Agreed Capitol Hill isn't the most competitive tournament, but I don't know that it ever really was. It's true that Triple Crown has really grown the past few years to attract the most competitive teams from all over the country that weekend but there were always lots of other tournaments that clubs would go to on Presidents Day. Also, for a team to go to Triple Crown they have to be invited ([url]https://www.tcvolleyballnit.com/event-details.html#:~:text=2024%20INVITATION-,PROTOCOLS,-POWER%20POOL%20SHOW[/url]) and at least this year, the only two CHRVA clubs that were invited are Metro and Paramount.  So other CHRVA clubs (or even the non-CHRVA clubs that come to Cap Hill most years) are not suddenly start going to Triple Crown simply because they're not invited. Also, with all the complaining on these forums about the cost of club volleyball adding a non-qualifier that requires travel to Kansas City and 3 nights of hotel stays seems likely to not be well received.

The reality is that CHRVA is not one of the stronger regions nationally right now, but I do believe it is improving as the popularity of volleyball continues to grow. CHRVA is  stronger than other regions in the Mid Atlantic and Northeast (Old Dominion, Keystone, Garden Empire, Western Empire, New England, etc), but still not even close to some of the regions in Florida, Texas, California, Arizona, and parts of the Midwest.

I'm pretty sure that the only CHRVA team with an Open bid to GJNC right now is Metro 18 Travel.  There is another month or so of qualifiers so there may be a few more Open bids earned, but earning an Open bid is difficult even for the very top teams in the country. Obviously you have to play your best volleyball at the right times, but you also need to get a little lucky in terms of seeding, where you come up against other teams in pool and bracket play, and what teams already have bids at a given qualifier. Even if they are not getting bids, it's been great to see more CHRVA teams playing Open at qualifiers - playing better teams nationally is going to help these teams improve.

Also there is no shame at all in going to compete at GJNC in a division other than Open. There is plenty of good volleyball played in other divisions and competing at a big tournament like that is a great experience.[/quote]
