I feel like this discussion goes over my head. Do you earn a bid by going to enough CHRVA sanctioned events? Or you just earn the right to participate in the CHRVA bid regionals? Do you earn a bid if you participate in the CHRVA bid regionals, or you have to win the competition?
There are two ways to earn a bid. The first is to earn one by placing highly at a national qualifier. Here is the list of qualifiers for teams 17 and younger https://usavolleyball.org/events/?state=&type=77&country=&team=&zip=&start-date=&end-date=. The numbers of bids at a particular qualifier will depend on how many teams are in the division. https://usavolleyball.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/2024-Championship-Manual-Girls-FINAL.pdf The second is to earn one by placing well at the CHRVA Bid Regionals tournament which is next Saturday, March 23 (expect for 18s which was a few weeks ago). The winner of regionals gets a National division bid, second place gets an American division bid, and third place gets a Freedom division bid. CHRVA is often given additional bids to allocate later in the spring and uses the results from the Bid Regional tournament to determine what team will receive those bids. Also, if a team that earns a bid at regionals, later earns a higher division bid at a qualifier, then that team would go to Nationals in the higher division and their CHRVA bid would be reallocated according to the results from bid regionals. The discussion about having to play in at least 2 CHRVA tournaments (at least one of which must be an Open level) is only related to which teams are potentially eligible to play in the Bid Regional tournament. Because there are limited numbers of teams that can play in the tournament, CHRVA uses AES rankings and their discretion to decide which eligible teams get invited to Bid Regionals.
