Paramount 18s got waitlisted for CHRVA regionals. Columbia 18s came in first for CHRVA regionals. I had the same question about the Paramount 18s waitlist as the Columbia younger age group waitlists... More headscratching. Again as PPs stated, CHRVA regionals are an easier path to get to USAV national championships but unless you finish first to get the 'national' division level bid, the 2nd, 3rd and 4th place teams get American or Freedom level bids. Paramount 18s getting waitlisted for CHRVA regionals is a similar question to the Columbia younger age groups getting waitlisted even though they appear (to the publicly available information) that they met all the minimum requirements. To even get waitlisted, you had to meet the CHRVA minimum requirements. Bids are important if you are trying to get to USAV Nationals. It doesn't do anything to your club otherwise if you don't get a bid - clubs would use it for recruiting purposes but so few teams get bids, it is not the make or break. Blue Ridge and Delaware United opted not to go to USAV nationals (they did not ever apply to go to regionals depending on age group I didn't check all the age groups - you can see it in AES). They are going to some national qualifier tournaments (NEQ) but in at least one prior year, I know one of the age groups, Blue Ridge got a bid at NEQ to go to USAV nationals but didn't take it. The discussion about 'open' for this thread was originally brought up to see if they had met the minimum CHRVA requirements of playing at least one 'CHRVA sanctioned' tournament at the open division level. This was not a debate of 'level' at Cap Classic. Cap Classic open level would have met the CHRVA requirements for eligibility and consideration to go to CHRVA regionals.
