I’m hosting about 20 people for a dinner and want to serve sushi. For both cost and convenience, I don’t want to order rolls from somewhere like I do for my family for dinner. I once ordered catering sushi from Wegmans and didn’t like it at all, so I’m wondering if anyone has done catering for sushi that was great (baldiccis? Whole Foods? A restaurant?) I’m in Chevy chase but happy to drive a bit.
So let me get this straight, you don't want to serve your guests the same quality of food as you'd your own family..? Because you're too cheap and it's "inconvenient"? Hosting a dinner party isn't supposed to be convenient, it's supposed to be an act of generosity. I'm curious what kind of people approach hosting like this. OP is definitely not Middle Eastern or Asian.
LOL. Good eye there PP. When I hate my guests I serve pizza
Oh my god, you people are reading a lot into this. I am having 20 people over and don’t want to figure out which rolls to order for which person. It’s hard enough to do that for my family if 4 and I know what they like. I want to find a place that has a sashimi platter, a nigiri platter and a roll platter and I just pick one. I know balducci’s does this, but wanted something better that wouldn’t require me to select 40 individual things on a menu. When I asked about not too expensive, I simply meant I didnt need a 5 star sushi chef to come to my house to make it. I’m not planning to feed people sushi from giant, and mentioned Whole Foods and balducci because I know they cater.
