Drive around most neighborhoods in the US and you’ll see those two sports being played far more than soccer in pickup games, at school recess, in backyards and driveways. Basketball and football are what kids watch on TV, buy jerseys and shoes of their favorite teams and players. It doesn’t mean soccer isn’t played here it just isn’t the #1 or even the #2 most popular. And that translates into dollars available. In the US every sport outside football, basketball, and maybe baseball is a niche sport which means high cost and pay to play[/quote]
