Almost all female players who are good enough to compete at this level are already at the level where they're getting looks for a youth national team. When they play with girls, they have to play at least two age groups up usually because they're very skilled and also very physically and athletically developed for their age, even as much as two or three years ahead of their biological age
Kind of. The girls playing in MLSn at TFA are usually in the "older" age groups. The reason for this is because non Academy MLSn clubs are where Acadamies shop for new recruits. As the teams get older any kind of talent has moved on to playing for the local Acadamies. This leaves the non academy MLSn clubs with positions to fill and girls parents love the opportunity and the pay well compared to boys. But again they still have to be good enough to hold their own with boys. Because of the influence of Acadamies and MLS / Pro soccer it's amazing how different boys soccer camps, events, etc are compared to girls camps, events, etc. To give an idea in Socal there's 4-5 big week long soccer camps run at local collegrs for girls and they generally cost around $1000. Equivalent boys camps for boys if you can find them are $500 or less.
