No idea. VDA and Richmond going to run ECNL into the ground.
+1
This is very true! These two clubs make the decisions for ECNL in this area.
You think vda forced Union and brave merge?
Mike Cullina runs US Club soccer who also runs ECNL. Mike Cullina is the founder of VDA. If you look at their slate on the girls side, they always get coaches who will bring teams (MW and now BP) since they dont know how to develop players. Look at the UNION Boys scores vs VDA, UNION boys are stronger then VDA. The merger decision was made by Mike Cullina at US CLub Soccer. He wanted to make VDA stronger with more kids available for them.
When you change jobs do you concern yourself with making the place you left and longer work at better? I seriously doubt Mike Cullina worries about how VDA is doing and how he can help them out.
Just like Cindy Cone had no idea the DA was going to be dissolved but was named to US Soccer President in March of 2020 but somehow NCFC where she also worked was able to get ahead of it and go back to ECNL before the DA was dissolved in March also. Okay.
You talk to friends certainly, and giving a "heads up" is one thing, but to go as far as to shut a ECNL club down in the hopes that it benefits VDA is a bit much. There is no guarantee the move would benefit VDA at all. Players are not pieces on a map that leagues and clubs actually control.
It is like that when marketing gets to a point that people believe more in a patch than anything else. Around here it's gotten to a point that parents will put kids into ECNL simply because they hear it's the best and it could be the most toxic environment in the world.
