What type of candidates get into these schools firing RD? In your experience over the last 2 cycles? Any specific examples (schools/stats)? Are they all “top 3 in class” type of kids which is what I’m gathering?
Depends on your school. In a large competitive school with lots of high achievers, top 1% have a chance, so let's say 10 kids out of a graduating class of 1,000, sometimes up to 15 would make into T 25 schools. In a smaller class of 200 , top 1% would be 2 kids, sometimes 0-4 would get in. From a poor performing urban or rural school, may be 2-3% would make it, even if they are less competitive than larger school grads but came over adversity, are URM or stand out among school's low performing cohort. Obviously, athletic stars always have a higher chance than academic stars.
What about a top private? What % of the class going to a top 25 is deemed an “amazing year” ? What about T35?
