So stupid! Let's create more pressure to buy stuff. Not to mention the mental overhead to think of everyone, not leave anyone out, and what if my kid is the one left out. Next thing you know there will be some way to market pointless crap for Memorial Day, labor day, or non-alcoholic gifts for St. Patrick's day to kids. As if the commercial pressure around Christmas isn't enough....
We have a big Irish dinner and I give my kids a rainbow of snacks and choc coins for St Patrick’s day. Last night we celebrated Mardi Gras with masks, decorations gumbo, and king cake. Today we do all things red/pink and have a nice meal with sparkling cider in wine glasses. I get chocolate for kids and my husband always comes home with some simple flowers for the girls (we only have two daughters) You might feel it’s commercial, but for us they are family traditions that my kids adore.
